bssa Sales Monitor

We need your support

Welcome to bssa’s Sales Monitor home page for the quarter ended September 2009

Raising the profile of independent retailers

The British Shops and Stores Association (bssa) quarterly sales monitor has now been running for over a year. Never has there been a time when independent retailers need to benchmark their performance. We hope you will continue to support this  important business tool.

Although the Retail Sales Monitor produced by the British Retail Consortium is an authoritative indicator of monthly sales performance, it is also a reflection on total retail sales within the UK, including data from multiples and from within the food and drink sector.

bssa’s Sales Monitor however, aims to provide a real snapshot of the health of the high street for independent retailers operating in the non-food sector.

In addition to bssa member companies, your commitment to and on-going support for bssa’s Sales Monitor is therefore vital in helping us to form a statistically significant and accurate view of trading patterns within independent shops and stores. The survey will be hosted online and take just minutes to complete. You will not be identified, your details will remain confidential and you will have access to the results in due course.

With bssa representing over 4000 members with a combined annual turnover exceeding £3 billion, any increase in the sample size will ensure the even greater credibility and relevance of the data. Using this information, we can better represent the interests of independent retailers like you both at government level and within the media.

Together we can make a difference.
